Layover in London; or: How technology makes me want to punch myself in the face

So, layover in London, which "saved" me $500. It was all worth it because I was able to tuck in a visit with two friends from the years we lived here.

But really? My lovely new camera stopped dead on Oxford St. Replaced it with the identical camera. Teeeeeeny silver lining - the UK plug works in Kenya without an adaptor. Of course, I HAVE an adaptor for my dead camera.

Then on to the Apple store on Regent St. for the external keyboard that I talked myself out of at home. Bluetooth technology my ass. Enabled the bluetooth on my iPad, and it still doesn't want to recognize the external. Suggestions (of a helpful and positive nature) welcome.

And THEN the BA site wouldn't let me check in online last night. What gives with me and all things technological lately? So I stumbled blearily over to the terminal at five this morning to try to score an aisle seat. Success! Though I do have to stagger back with 5 pieces of checked luggage to finish the process.

Later that same morning . . . Kadijah seeing me off at Heathrow. Yes, both carts are mine. Don't judge!

  1. what a great photo of the two of you! Here are some tips I found for the keyboard:
    Go to Settings app
    Select General
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
Make sure your keyboard is in discovery mode (press the silver button on the right side of the keyboard - the green light will start flashing)
In the Bluetooth section on the iPad, you should see the wireless keyboard
Select the found keyboard to pair it with the iPad
You'll be asked to type a pairing code on the keyboard - if it's entered successfully, your keyboard will be paired with the iPad (or any iOS device with Bluetooth)
Note that when you are using the Bluetooth keyboard, the normal iPad keyboard does not appear - turn off Bluetooth or the external keyboard (press and hold the button on the right side of the Apple Wireless Keyboard), or travel outside the 10-15m range of Bluetooth to go back to using the regular iPad keyboard

  2. If Julie's directions don't work, I can check the directions that came with my bluetooth keyboard. Travel safely!
